Director Newsletter: August 2022

Hello all and happy August. I want to say goodbye to all our students who are moving on to Kindergarten and First Grade, and I want to say hello to all of our new children that have started or are going to start this month.

Our classrooms will be finishing up summer themed activities and our children will be introduced to “Back to School” routines. Our classrooms ages 3 and up will be transitioning to their new classroom on August 19, 2022. Teachers have communicated with families regarding each child’s new classroom. We would also like to remind our summer camp families that we welcome you back during Fall, Winter, and Spring Break.

We would like to remind families to sign your child in and out of ProCare each day. This is mandatory and very important, as it helps us track each child who is in our care and keeps our center compliant with Colorado State Rules & Regulations.

If your child falls ill, we ask that parents please notify the school immediately, especially if it is a contagious illness. We ask to be notified so that we can do our part in sanitizing and keeping the other children in the school safe. In addition, we ask that you bring in a doctor’s note indicating when it is safe for your child to return to school. If your child has a fever with a temperature of 100.4 or more, they will be sent home and will not be allowed to return to school for 24 hours from the time they are clear of the fever. Same goes for any diarrhea, as this usually is a sign of a virus. We thank you for your help in keeping our students and teachers safe and healthy.

Entering kindergarten can be a joyful but anxious time, particularly for parents of children with disabilities. These best practices can help make for a smoother transition: using a collaborative team approach to involve families, setting transition goals, and focusing on the needs and strengths of individual children
