Director Newsletter: September 2020

September has come in like a lion. It’s not quite autumn but we have already had our first snow. 2020 has definitely been a strange and challenging year for all of us. We hope everybody has been safe and is handling the stress as best as possible.

Sunset Academy is proud to have launched a new curriculum called Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG). Please see below for an explanation about TSG. Parents should have received an invitation from their child’s teacher to create an account. Once the account has been created, you will have access to reach information about your child development and learning. Being online makes it easy for teachers to share observation notes, pictures and other meaningful information with you. If you have any questions please email your child’s teacher or administration.

Parents – if any of your contact information changes such as phone, email, etc., please log-in to https://myprocare.com and update your information to insure we are able to communicate with you.

Reminder – Sunset Academy has extended the closure to 5:00 pm in order to accommodate parents. We sent an email previously about this but wanted to ensure all are aware.

Parent/Teacher conferences will be coming up in October. We can accommodate parents via a Zoom meeting or outside of the school at the picnic table if you prefer a face-to-face with your child’s teacher. More information to follow as the time gets nearer.

With the ever changing weather in Colorado, please insure your child has appropriate clothing in their cubby so they are prepared for whatever the days bring.

If you have any questions/concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Teaching Strategies Gold – A Brief Explanation

Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) is an award-winning program that is based around 38 different learning objectives for early childhood development. The program is known as “Creative Curriculum” and it starts at the infancy level and goes to Kindergarten prep. It is implemented in each classroom throughout the day in a wide variety of ways and learning areas and supports the best and most current teaching methods. Assessments are used to help discover each child’s strengths, skills, interests and needs in order to assist in helping them to be successful. Assessments also help exchange information with families, so that together we can ensure your child is progressing.
