Polar Bear Newsletter: September 2020

Greetings Polar Bear Families,

It is hard to believe that it the end of August already! I want to thank the parents who were able to attend the zoom meeting on Wednesday, August 28th, it was finally nice to meet you. In addition, I would like to thank you for taking the time to complete and return the questionnaire. The information that you provided has been most helpful in getting to know you and your child. For those of you who have not returned the questionnaire, I encourage you to please fill it out and return as soon as possible.

This week in Polar Bears, we lead discussions about feeling sad or scared at school and about ways to calm down such as walking away, asking for a hug or by taking a deep breath, and blowing out the candle. We introduced them to an area in our room called the “calm down place.” It is a place where they can go to take a break, cool off or relax. In addition, we read books such as The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn; it is a story about a mother raccoon that comforts a child raccoon that is afraid of going to school for the first time by kissing its paw.

Next week, we will begin our discussion about when things happen in school such as when do we go outside or have lunch. I am asking that your child bring in a photo of daily home life activities to share with the class. Some examples could be preparing a meal, washing dishes, brushing teeth, or getting ready for bed. You can send them to my phone and will be happy to process them. However, I would need them by 2:00 pm on Sunday. At this time, I would also, like to request a family photo to display in the classroom. The children love to see their families’ pictures in the classroom. Again, I would be glad to print them and/or have them processed.

Just a friendly reminder to label your child’s belongings.

In closing, I would like to thank all of you for allowing Miss Maddie and I to be a part of your child’s life and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Miss Gloria and Miss Maddie
