Brown Bears February Newsletter
Welcome To February Brown Bears!

This month will be all about love/appreciation and we’ll also explore our new theme, Dinosaurs! We will also discuss Lunar New Year & talk about important people and achievements made by Black Americans in honor of Black History Month.

Prehistoric times are full of interesting creatures that are fun to learn about. We’ll explore theories, evolution, and paleontologists– even becoming one ourselves!

Theme: Dinosaurs

Letters: L, M, N

Math: Advanced Shapes

Social Emotional: affirmations, expression, and boundaries.

Appreciation Wall

I’ll be setting up a display wall for students AND parents to use to post notes with a kind message for fellow classmates and/or any Sunset Academy staff. On February 13th, I’ll take the notes down and pass them out to who they were written for.

The notes can have a fond memory, a thank you, a compliment, or any kind of message that you and your Brown Bear would like to express to those you care about. There isn’t a limit for the notes please write as much as you’d like! This is a great opportunity to spread kindness and love.

REMINDERS!

Keep students home when they’re sick and let me know why they’re absent through Procare!

– If students have a fever they may return to school 24hrs after symptoms have resolved WITHOUT medication. If student is vomiting they may return to school 48hrs after the last time they vomited.

– Please be mindful that a classroom is a shared space and others (including staff) are affected by illness!

Valentine Exchange <3

We will have a Valentine Exchange on Feb 13th @ 10:45 AM.

There are currently 12 Brown Bears in my class (5 boys & 7 girls). I will let you know if that changes.

If students bring in candy or treats for the exchange, please make sure they are nut free.

Non food items are also highly encouraged for example pencils, stickers, tattoos, markers, etc.

Please ensure to write who the valentine is from so we can give a proper thank you (:

Please bring in a bag or box for students to carry their valentine gifts in. I encourage you to decorate the box or bag at home with your Brown Bear! I will put up their box/bag after the exchange and will return them at pickup.

I request that your Brown Bear wear pink, red, or white (or all) on February 13th! Thank you!
