Koalas Newsletter: May 2021

Hello Koala Families,
Holy moly it’s May! That means warmer weather hopefully becomes more consistent and that Mother’s Day is coming. We want to acknowledge and thank our mommies, daddies, grandparents, aunts, step/foster parents, anyone who is important in our lives. Thank you for loving us and taking care of us, we love you!
We will continue our focus on two shapes and two colors, this month focusing on stars and hearts, and purple and orange. We will be doing our themes a little bit differently this month as we are experimenting a little bit with schedules and routines. During our “circle time”, which is offered while they play, we will focus on the theme three days of the week, and the other two we will look at our shapes or colors of the month. This will hopefully create more repetition and recognition of the shapes and colors they see in their world. We will roll over our animal theme from last month and finish it out with Under the Sea. We will also look at flowers, the beach, and more!
Reminders
Just a note:-We apply sunscreen every time we go outside but if you would like your child to wear a hat or some other type of sun protection that is perfectly fine. Just let us know and we will make sure they get worn.
ANOTHER NOTE:As some of you may know the Koala classroom uses universal wipes. Since Sunset reopened last May the Koala 1 room has not been open and there haven’t been very many kids so we ended up with a stockpile of wipes. We are beginning to get low and in the past we have asked parents to provide wipes for the classroom. If you can and are willing please bring one or two packages of wipes for the classroom. If you would like your child to have their own wipes that is not a problem, just let us know! Thank you so much for helping us out!
ONE MORE THING: Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up at the end of May. There is a sign up sheet in the air lock (front entrance) if you are interested. There you can also note if you would like to do them in-person, via phone, or on Zoom.
Thank you all so much for sharing your little ones with us! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns. Happy Spring and Happy Mother’s Day to all the caregivers!
-Ms. Katie and Ms. Elena
