Parents Letter Concerning School Closure From March 26 to April 17

Dear Sunset Parents,

As the Boulder County has issued the Stay At Home Order, Sunset Academy will follow the order.

  1. We will definitely close to all parents who do not perform essential functions during the March 26 to April 17 period. These parents will not be charged for the period.
  2. We will also close to parents who do perform essential functions but have alternative to Sunset for child care, please use your alternative.
  3. For people who perform essential functions and do not have alternatives, we will evaluate the possibility of a very small operation based on the on-going survey results, Other factors such as availability of teachers, regulatory and safety issues play very important role in the decision making. A definite answer will be given by 7:00pm tonight. Although, I have to say, that the likely for our scaled -down operation is not high.
  4. For parents who paid tuition for March 26 and March 27, the funds will be converted as credit for future use when we reopen.
  5. All parents, please still click on this link and  complete the survey that I sent out earlier today: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YJ8XLQD.
  6. For parents who wants to retain a teacher for outside child care, please sign the attached document and email back to us. We will link you with interested teachers.
  7. Most of our teachers will be eligible for unemployment benefits, which is not enough to live on.  We are calling for parents to contribute to a fund that will pay teachers a “Return to Work Bonus” that hopefully can alleviate the stress to some degree. Please indicate your willingness in the survey. We will get back to you in details.

We wish you and yours stay strong and healthy during the difficult days ahead of us,

Nina Emmer – Director, Sunset Academy

Eric Kuang, PhD – President and Owner, Sunset Academy
