Brown Bear Newsletter: February 2020

We are looking forward to a fun filled friendship February!

Ms Diane will be gone February 4-7th to celebrate her Mother’s 87th birthday in Michigan. The children will be in Ms Lydia’s very capable hands.

Groundhog Day being in the first week gives us a jumping point to learn about shadows and day and night. We will also touch on the strength and perseverance of Rosa Parks on her birthday the 4th.  Loving kindness continually comes up.

Valentine’s Day brings the opportunity to focus on friendship during the second week.  What is a friend? How do friends treat each other? Can we still be friends and not play together every time? We are working on social skills daily.

Your child may bring 24 valentines to school on Friday, February 14. Please have your child start now, signing their own name, only, on each card. Do not address cards. A few an evening will not be overwhelming and they will be writing their own name before you know it.  We will help them deliver their valentines into each child’s pre-decorated bag.

Look for the healthy snack list posted to choose from if you are interested in helping with our afternoon valentine snack.

President’s Day will be the highlight of the 3rd week. We will learn about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

The last week will be about proper nutrition but will also include some Mardi Gras fun!

Every week in February has a special occasion to expand on!

Reminder:  We close at 4:00 on February 14th for staff training.

Thank you for all you do! Please don’t hesitate with any questions or concerns sunsetacademybrownbears@gmail.com

Remember to love em, hug em. laugh lots and READ, READ, READ!

They grow fast!
