Cubs Newsletter: October 2023

Happy fall cubs families!

We have a lot going on this month so let me start off with your monthly theme and activities. This month we will be focusing on learning about our bodies as well as doing some fun Halloween stuff later in the month. Learning about our bodies as infants means learning where our hands and feet are, how to roll, crawl, walk, sit, etc., learning about senses and more. With us having a wide range of infants in our room we will be tailoring each activity to the different age groups. For our 0-6 month old infants will be practicing their fine motor skills learning to grab toys and reach for things while doing tummy time. They will also be exploring their bodies learning where everything is located. A few important milestones we will work on include rolling and sitting. We will be doing lots of tummy time and sensory activities as well. For our 6-12 month infants we will be practicing our fine motor and gross motor skills by doing lots of activities that include using and building our different muscles. We will be exploring our body singing songs like head shoulders knees and toes, if your happy and you know it and open shut them. We will also read books about our body and senses. A couple important milestones we will be working on are learning to crawl and walk. Here is a link for the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) on communicating with baby and different tips for parents and families on the developmental communication milestones https://www.naeyc.org/our-work/families/communicating-with-baby

We also wanted to put a reminder with many new parents joining our center to always check your child’s cubby every day for dirty laundry, bottles, and art projects needing to be sent home. Now that the weather is beginning to change we also ask that parents bring at least 3 changes of weather appropriate clothing including a coat in case we take a walk outside.

Important dates:

October 13th: Early closure at 4:00pm please be sure to arrange for your child to be picked up before 4;00pm

We will be having a Halloween party with the infants where you can dress them in your cutest Halloween outfit or pajamas, we will be doing lots of Halloween crafts as well as listening to fun music.
