Panda 2 Newsletter: November 2021

Dear Panda Two Families,

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!  I’d like to thank all of the families who were able to contribute to our Halloween party and/or the Trunk-or-Treat event – we couldn’t have done it without you!

Upcoming Events

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Miss Becka will be available for parent teacher conferences on Monday, November 15th. A sign-up sheet is posted in the hallway just outside of the Panda Room door.  I look forward to speaking with you all!

Reminders and Early Closures

Miss Becka will be out of the classroom on Monday, November 1st and Tuesday, November 2nd; she will return on Wednesday, November 3rd.

Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 7th at 2:00AM – don’t forget to set your clocks back.

Sunset Academy will be closing early, at 4:00PM, on Friday, November 12th, for staff training.  We kindly ask that you please make arrangements to have your child(ren) picked up early that day, as our staff will not be available after 4:00PM.  Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation, it is greatly appreciated.

November wipes are due.  Please provide a package of 200 wipes or more for the upcoming month.  Thank you!!!

Sunset Academy will be closed on Thursday, November 25th, in observance of Thanksgiving Day, and Friday, November 26th.  We will reopen the following Monday, November 29th.   A sign-in/out sheet for the week of Thanksgiving will be posted on the white board in the hallway just outside of the Panda Room door.  Please mark your child “IN” or “OUT” for each day of that week.  The deadline to reserve a spot for the holiday week is Friday, November 12th at 5:00PM.  Children who have not been signed in or out by the deadline will be presumed to be out, and thus, will not be able to attend, as the classroom will be staffed accordingly.  Thank you in advance.  We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Classroom Updates

We would like to welcome two new students, Lilith and Adriel, as well as their families – all of whom are new to the Center – to Sunset Academy!  Welcome, welcome!  We are delighted you are here!

Effective Monday, November 1st, we will experience a change in staffing in the Panda Room, as Miss Maddie will be leaving to assist in the Polar Bear Classroom with Miss Romina.

Transitions

This month we bid a fond farewell to our friends Charlie and Lucien as they graduate to the Polar Bear Classroom.  In their place, we welcome Isaac and Abeer from Panda One.  Congratulations on your graduation, friends!  We are so proud of you!

Wellness

The change in seasons often brings a change to our overall health.  Coughing, sneezing, runny noses, earaches, and sore throats become commonplace in the classroom and elsewhere, while children, teachers, and parents struggle to keep up with the daily grind while not feeling their best.  While the aforementioned ailments are not necessarily grounds for keeping your child(ren) home from school, the severity and duration of such symptoms could be cause for exclusion.  Sunset Academy is working directly with Boulder County Public Health to determine best practice and ensure that we are in compliance with all public health regulations.  Current guidelines are posted on the Parent Advisory Board in the lobby, as well as on the white board in the hallway just outside of the Panda Room door.  A good rule of thumb is: “When in doubt, keep them home.”
