Brown Bears Newsletter: September 2021

Happy September! Autumn beginnings are being felt with cooler mornings already.
Reminder we are closed Monday, September 6 for Labor Day.

The children are falling into a nice routine and are stepping up to the responsibilities and expectations of being big Brown Bears. I love watching the independence grow in their capable selves.

We have been staying outside longer in the morning while we can to try to keep sickness from spreading. This time also gives them more child directed opportunities. It is a joy to watch the play expand and the imaginations soar. Science is everywhere as we notice so much around us in nature. The new changes coming will be magical to watch together.

Our first week of September will focus on Our Five Senses. One sense will be studied each day.

The second week we will have fun with apples. There will be an apple tasting. Each child will be asked to bring their favorite variety. A note will be sent home closer to that date. We will vote on the winning variety as we use all our senses to choose. This will introduce them to graphs as well.

The third and fourth week will be all about Autumn. There is just too much to enjoy to limit ourselves to one week.

You may want to consider updating your child’s extra set of clothes in their cubby baskets with cooler weather on the horizon.

It usually takes the first month together too bond but I feel our relationships are growing quicker. Such a sweet group of children to spend my days with. We are up to 8 friends as we welcome Owen and Izaias  to our classroom. What a wonderful opportunity we have been given to have a small class size.
