Black Bears Newsletter: February 2021

Happy February, Black Bear Families!

This is my favorite time of the school year. It always seems that our students are geared up and ready to learn more and more. We have begun February with the study of Earth and Space.  We will end the month with weather.  In math we will continue with our measurement unit. I have high hopes for literacy. Learning letters and their sounds, blending sounds to make simple words, and reading simple texts will be our goal for the end of the school year. We will begin to incorporate writing and spelling skills into reading. It all works together. Please know how important it is for your child to be here by 8:30 every day if possible. Our schedule does not have much instructional and independent learning time.

     Here is our schedule again:

        8:25 Restroom

        8:45 Circle Time

9:00 Literacy, Math, and Choice Learning Centers

        9:50 Restroom

       10:00 Snack/Free Choice Center Time

       10:45 Outdoor Play

       11:30 Wash hands for lunch

       11:40 Lunch/Free Choice Center Time

       12:30 Math Time

       1:00 Nap Time

       2:30 Restroom

       2:45 Snack/Free Choice Center Time

       3:15 Outdoor Play

       4:00 Free Choice Center Time

Colorado Shines says we need to have 3 hours of free choice play time during the day which is very important. Play leads to much learning. I need teacher-directed time as well which is very hard to find. If you wish for your child to learn more sight words please send me an email so we can work together. All through your young child’s education unity between home and school is very important.
