Sunset Resumes Operation Hours from 7:30AM to 5:00PM

Dear Sunset Parents and Teachers,

Good Evening! I bring in good news:

Starting from next Monday, January 18, we are resuming operating hours from 7:30am to 5:00pm. Yes, we do open on 1/18/2021 and wish everyone a happy Martin Luther King Day.

Teachers please make sure you know your time to sign-in and out. We need to cascade our hours to cover the extra half hour.

We would like to remind our parents, though, within the 9.5-hour (7:30am – 5:00pm ) time window, you can only keep your child in the school for no more than 9 hours. For example, if you drop off your child in at 7:30am, you should pick up your child before 4:30pm.  On the other hand, if you drop off your child after 8:00am, you can pick up all the way up to 5:00pm.  Please try to be consistent day-to-day so we will have some visibility of demand for teachers’ time so we can schedule our teachers time accordingly.

The attendance is still recovering bit still low, and we have some classrooms having only one teacher. We understand our parents really need the extra hour and we are doing our best to meet the need.

When the pandemic situation improves and County Public Health Department allows we to combine classes at the beginning and the end of the day, we will extend the closing hour to 6:00pm.

Please keep wearing masks, washing your hands, and practicing social distancing. We are getting close to the end of the pandemic and we will prevail.

Also, for everyone’s information, our teachers are the next group in line for COVID-19 vaccine shots. We are in category 1-B, a very high priority category. The  county is asking for the teachers’ information so they can contact them when vaccines become available.

Best regards,

Nina Emmer, Director, Sunset Academy
