Black Bears Newsletter: December 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are so glad to be back at school!  Believe it or not, everyone seems to be ready to learn after our short break.  It’s a natural phenomenon that usually shows up in children right after the December Holiday break in public schools.  Children are more focused and eager to learn.
During the month of December we will focus on family celebrations in different cultures around the world.  We will learn about Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa. All around the world families celebrate Christmas.  We will read and focus on a book called “Children Around the World Celebrate Christmas” written by Susan Titus Osborn.  It is illustrated by Christine Tangrald. It is a fantastic way to learn about places around the world.
This month for STEM we will continue to study Simple Machines.  We will read and study a book by William Steig called “Doctor De Soto.”  We will also be focusing on  the three Rs—–Recycle-Renew-Reuse.
Thank you for all that you do to support our school!
                                                  Thank you again,
                                                   Pam and Sarah
