Brown Bears- April 2025

HAPPY SPRING BROWN BEARS!

It’s now April and with that we’re finally able to enjoy Spring time. Our unit for this month will be Plants & Gardens. We’ll learn about the plant cycle and grow some things of our own! While exploring this concept we’ll make connections to what people need in order to grow. We’ll discuss how we can positively impact our environment and those around us.

Theme: Plants & Gardens

Letters: O, P, Q

Numbers: 20-30

Social emotional: What does “nurture” mean? What do humans need to grow?

BROWN BEAR GARDEN

The Brown Bear classroom will be making a garden and creating some plant starters!

We ask that each Brown Bear bring one small clay pot on April 7th to paint  and put seeds in 🙂

PLANT DONATION

We’d love to add more potted plants to our classroom. If you feel inclined, you can donate a non-toxic plant to add to our garden center or as decor for the classroom. The students will participate in watering plants and checking soil and leaves.

We’re hoping we can enjoy the party outdoors in the field so please bring a picnic blanket to sit on. In the case of bad weather, we’ll have to enjoy the food inside or reschedule.

We’ll have a sign up sheet for guests and food items 🙂 Sign up will be required in order to attend!

***** IMPORTANT NOTICE *****

Our class size has drastically increased. Right now, we have 19 students enrolled and we anticipate we will have 20 soon. This being the case, it will be more difficult to have more intricate activities planned. In order to do said activities and still be able to provide students with quality teaching, certain activities will have to occur over the course of a few days so we can work with smaller groups. You will notice a decrease in pictures and videos being sent out as we have more students to keep our eyes on and because the younger children will need more support during activities. Higher numbers will also affect our schedule because everything will require more time (lunch, bathroom, clean up, circle, etc)

In addition, you may notice changes in the students. Having so many kids in the classroom can get very overstimulating which will increase stress and can increase behavioral issues and conflict.

We ask for your understanding and patience as more students are being added to the classroom. We will do our best to provide the best care and teaching we can under the circumstances. We are hoping numbers will decrease by the new school year. Thank you!
