Sunset Academy February 2018 Director’s Newsletter

Dear Parents,

February is upon us and much is going on.

First, as parents are preparing for Tax Season, please let us know if you need your statement for 2017. We can provide it to you at your request.

Secondly, Valentine’s Day is drawing near, please look for information from your child’s teacher regarding their classroom party.

Please start thinking about Summer Camp. We will be providing sign-up opportunities around mid-March. Stay tuned for more information and please check with the front office if you have any questions about Summer Camp.

We are implementing an Employee of the Month program at Sunset Academy. If you see your child’s teacher going above and beyond, please let Ms. Nina or Ms. Riya in the front office know. Your participation in identifying what you experience as high-quality care is greatly appreciated.

Please be aware of an extra charge that may appear on your statements. This will be for your annual registration as many are coming up soon. If you have any questions regarding this, please see Ms. Nina or Ms. Riya as we are happy to explain.

Parenting Tip: “Saying I Love You” – Saying “I love you” is one of the most important things parents can do to raise a confident child. There are many ways to express love for a child. Here are some simple ideas. Include an “I love you” note in your child’s lunchbox. Even young children will enjoy looking at the note and hearing the words as the teacher reads it. Sing a love song to your child. They won’t mind if you’re off key, and they will get the message. Tell your child why you love them, they will remember it for a long time. Put a family picture in your child’s cubby at school. Try to have family time together each day where your child feels secure and able to communicate freely. This could be while enjoying a meal or snack, reading a story, even simply sitting quietly together. Hug your child often-there will come a time when they will shrug off your hugs. Enjoy them while you can.

My door is always open, so do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns or suggestions.
