Grizzly Bears February 2018 Newsletter

Our new year has already brought new adventures and learning experiences for our students. A lot of them went home with their “blubber” from our “Why Bears Need Blubber” experiment.  The sea urchins craft got some very expressive faces during pick up. We love the feedback from students & families on all our activities.  If there is an experiment or craft you would like a copy of please feel free to ask Ms. Leewitt & she will get it sent to you.

February has a “Late Start” & two “No School” days during the month & one party.

2/7 Late Start Flagstaff & SVVSD

2/16 No School Flagstaff & SVVSD

2/16 Chinese New Year’s Celebration Year of the Dog @ 4PM

2/19 No School Flagstaff, SVVSD & TPCA –President’s Day

We have a sign-up sheet under the whiteboard outside the grizzly room.  Please sign your student(s) IN or OUT for these days so we can schedule staffing appropriately.  Please make sure you have lunches & PM snacks packed for your student(s) on “No School” days.   If you need a copy of the lunch & snack guidelines please ask a grizzly teacher. We do have allergies in the classroom; please help keep our students & teachers safe.

Our themes this month are:

  • Groundhog’s Day
  • Prepare To Party
  • Celebrations Week: Mardi Gras/ Valentine’s Day/ Chinese New Year – The year of the Earth Dog
  • President’s Day/ Duck For President
  • Seuss Week

There will also be a sign-up sheet for the party treats for our Chinese New Year Celebration posted below the whiteboard.  Please help us make this party festive by volunteering to bring in one of the treats.

Reminder, if your child is sick or gets sick in their elementary school please call Sunset Academy & let us know they will not be included in the van transportation. It is rare, but sometimes one child could be the difference for a stop at the particular school that day. It also helps avoid unnecessary phone calls & delays while on transportation runs.

We have been receiving questions about the Summer Camp program. As a Grizzly, you will be the first offered the registration paperwork. Our Summer Camp does fill up fast & is on a first come basis.  All costs & time windows for the Summer Camp will be broken down into the registration contract. We will start registration for our Summer Camp program in mid-March, just before Spring Break.

We thank you for continuing to be part of the Sunset Academy family as we play & learn with our students.
