Sunset Kindergarten October 2017 Newsletter

Fall has arrived! We welcomed the transition with our animal and seasons study and started our exciting Chinese foreign language lessons. Now we are looking ahead to the spooky fun Halloween brings in October.

This month Kindergarten will learn about the human brain, teeth, eyes and skeletal system in conjunction with our Halloween Theme: Egyptian Transformation. Throughout the month we will learn about different elements of ancient Egyptian culture and rituals like pyramids, Pharaohs, Sphinx, hieroglyphics and, of course, mummies! Our classroom will transform into an Egyptian display of art and STEM that will coordinate with the understanding of bones, brains and bodies. We will examine similarities and differences in an Egyptian cartouche to decode letters and meaning, and sort out what bones and body parts were preserved in the mummification process.

Look out for our mummified classroom door at the Halloween Festival for Egyptian face painting, snacks, and spooky fun!
