Grizzly Bears September 2017 Newsletter

Welcome To September Grizzly Families,

We know how important it is to communicate with families on changes to the classrooms. It is one of the purposes of these monthly newsletters. We understand that changes can affect your child on many levels, especially when your child & family members have grown attached to a teacher. This month brings some changes to the Grizzly classroom but there will also be some consistency.

As many of you know Ms. Leewitt will be stepping out of the Grizzly classroom to use her unique skill set to help the Koala 2 (18 month -2 year old) classroom, temporarily. She does this with full confidence in our team of Grizzly teachers to carry on in her absence. Though she is not leaving the center, she will miss interacting with the Grizzly students regularly. Please feel free to drop by & say hi to her down the hall in Koala 2 classroom.

The team of Ms. Rachel, Mr. Rob, & Ms. Steph will be joined by Ms. Lindsey who will take the lead teacher position in Grizzly room. She has a degree in elementary education & will be a strong addition to the classroom. Many of the students already know Ms. Lindsey from working with her in other classrooms, which should help through this transition. She will also have the advantage of following the scheduled plans Ms. Leewitt has already assembled for the month of September.

Another change is on the van transportation. Ms. Leewitt will be needed in the Koala 2 room full time & will no longer be in charge of nor driving the van transportation. The Assistant Director Ms. Stacey will be in charge of all scheduling for the vans. Any concerns about van transportation will need to be directed to her to assure the van drivers are informed.

September will also bring chillier weather. Please remind students to bring a jacket/coat, even if they don’t think they will need it. Weather can change quickly & it is better to be prepared than caught off guard.

We would like to thank families for continuing to have your student bring in & take home water bottles daily. Hydration is still important, even when we are not as active.

We have one “No School” day, one day that Sunset Academy is closed & one “Late Start” this month. The dates are listed below:

9/1//17 No School Flagstaff

9/6/17 Late Start – Flagstaff & Saint Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD)

As we get closer to these days we will place a reminder on the white board outside Grizzly Room where the weekly theme is posted.

The themes for this month are:

  •  Apples
  •  Where We Live
  •  My Family
  •  Fall
  •  Community Helpers

We thank you for your support and understanding through this transition. We look forward to continuing to learn & grow with our Grizzly friends & families.
