December Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Happy Holidays. I can’t believe it’s already December. The weather is getting colder and the days are getting shorter. I’m ready for Spring already…. or a good dusting of snow. Sunset has many exciting adventures scheduled for this month.

Saturday, December 12 we will be in the Parade of Lights: Light Up the Night . We will be decorating the van here at Sunset at 12:00 pm if anyone is interested in helping. The parade starts at 5:00pm and should be completed around 6:30 PM with fireworks after the parade. We will be arriving with the van decorated by 3:30pm. All cars can be parked along Coffman and Roosevelt Park.  The van will be lined up along Longs Peak and Bross Street.   I’m excited to see what our van will look like 10,000 lights on it.

We are in need of donated clear holiday lights to be used on the Van. We will return once the parade is over.

Our annual Christmas program is going to take place at Lifebridge Christian Church. It will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at 6:30pm. Please have your children arrive at 6:10pm. Our Little Koalas will being our program promptly at 6:30pm. There will be cookies and drinks available afterwards. Please feel free to invite  friends and family members.   A special guest  from the North Pole will be available for pictures around 7:00pm.

Usborne will be at the center next week for another book fair. The fair will be open from 3-6pm. Teacher and children love books.

On a billing note, please make sure to let Bryan know if any changes need to be made on your statements as tax season is fast approaching. This includes billing errors or address changes. Also a big reminder that payments are due on Mondays. If your payment will be late please let me or Bryan know. A 50 late fee will be asset on Wednesday for non payments.

This Holiday Season we are reminded of all the blessing in our lives. Thank you for sharing your most precious blessing with us. Your children.

I wish you a wonderful and Happy Holiday.

Happy Holidays,

Miss Kristy

The Panda classrooms will be singing “Once There Was A Snowman” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”.

“Once There Was A Snowman”

Once there was a snowman,

Growing, growing, growing.

Once there was a snowman,

Growing, growing tall.

Once there was a snowman,

Melting, melting, melting.

Once there was a snowman,

Melting, melting small.

“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”

You know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen,

Comet, and Cupid, and Donner, and Blitzen.

But do you recall, the most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,

Had a very shiny nose.

And if you ever saw it,

You might even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer,

Used to laugh and call him names.

They never let poor Rudolph

Join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,

Santa came to say, (“Ho-ho-ho!”)

Rudolph with your nose so bright,

Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?

Then all the reindeer loved him,

As they shouted out with glee, (“Yip-ee!”)

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,

You’ll go down in history!

Brown Bears

Happy Hopping December, this month will be busy for everyone! Your child may react to this hurried exciting month, so try hard to keep them well rested and eating healthy foods. We wouldn’t want them to miss out on any festivities. It will be nice to enjoy the extra family time at the end of the month, as we were able to do for Thanksgiving.

The children are working hard on their Holiday Program songs ad are looking forward to performing on December 15, 6:00 P.M. at Lifebridge Church. We hope you can make it, the evening is always so fun and entertaining!

Our next STEM activity will focus on magnet and rubber band powered vehicles and the importance of Auto Repair shops. We will also be busy creating holiday items to decorate the classroom and your homes.

We will continue to go outside twice daily, so it is much appreciated that they have all their warm gear. Thank you for that!

We are looking forward to a fun-filled month with much learning to be had.

Any questions or concerns please don’t ever hesitate. We appreciate all that you do.

Hug em, Love em, and keep the Humor flowing!

Greetings Grizzly Parents and Families,

November flew past and the cold-weather has settled in. Please encourage your kids to bring warmer clothes and winter gear to protect them from the colder weather.

December has one “Late Start” and “Early Release” day early in the month. We also have one “No School” day before Winter Break, which is the last 2 weeks of December. We will post reminders on the white board outside Grizzly Room of the following dates as they get closer:

12/2 – Late Start: Flagstaff & SVVSD
12/2 – Early Release: TPCA
12/11 – LAST DAY TO SIGN UP FOR WINTER BREAK
12/12 – Sunset Academy in Longmont Parade of Lights
12/15 – Winter Festival, LifeBridge Church performance starts at 6:30
12/18- No School: Flagstaff
12/21 -1/1/16 Winter Break

Sign-up sheets for Winter Break are now posted outside the Grizzly room. Please be sure to sign your kid(s) IN or OUT for each day on the sign-up sheet before December 11th so we can staff accordingly.
Please make sure you have snacks and lunches packed for your kiddo on “No School” and “Early Release” days. We do have a nut allergy in the classroom so please no peanuts or other nuts in the lunches or snacks.

Last month our students learned how much work it is to clean up after a rush on the Grocery Store. They also learned to make ink from beets; how difficult it is to build a house out of scrap “boat” material and why we need worms on a farm. Now, we enter the holiday season.

The themes during December in the Grizzly before and after school classroom include:

Holidays Around the World
Gingerbread Men
Walking in a Winter Wonderland
The children will also be learning songs for the Holiday performance on December 15th.
Winter Break will then begin, with field trips and themes of:
Christmas
New Year’s Fun

Calendars are available upon request. Please ask a Grizzly teacher for details.

We wish you glad tidings during this busy holiday season and thank you for being part of our Sunset Academy family.
