November Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for all the donations and and help with our Fall Festival. We had a great time as always. What awesome costumes and great creativity parents.

Nina was able to take a bunch of pictures we hope to post soon. I’m excited for next year to see what families come up with.

Parents night out was a huge success. I would like to do another one before the Winter holidays. Maybe some last minute holiday shopping?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Please stop by and say congratulations to Mr.Bryan and Ms. Amanda from the Cubs room. They got married on Halloween. Wishing them the best of luck and a lifetime of love and happiness.

On November 11th and 12th we will be having Fall photos taken with John from a Moment in Time Photography. He will be here early in the morning and stay until lunch time. If you would like to have your child’s photo taken  please fill out a form up at the front desk. Upon your request, he will do siblings together.

I can’t believe how time flies. We are getting very close to the busy time with holidays and vacations.

Please stop by the front desk and let Mr. Bryan or Ms. Nina know if you want to schedule those vacation days..

We will be closed Thursday November 26th for Thanksgiving. Remember that it is a paid holiday for staff. You are unable to use vacation credit for that day.

Teachers will have sign in and out sheets on their classroom doors available this week. Please sign your child in or out for the holiday week. Remember if you don’t sign your child in they will be counted out. This way we can staff the classrooms accordingly.

Next month already is our Holiday program at Life Bridge Church. It will be Tuesday, December 15th at 6:30 pm. We will have refreshments after the program.

Parents and families are welcome. We will have a special visitor all the way from the North Pole. He will be available for pictures.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Welcome fall and welcome cooler weather.

The Cubs are having fun exploring fall art and books.  Did you see our cute footprint ghosts?

It’s fun to see our Cubs little faces when they try something new.

We said goodbye to Jake and Dylan as they moved up to Teddies and we welcomed Estelle and Caleb to our class. You will be missed Jake and Dylan. Have fun in your new classroom. You will go places.

Please let us know if you will be out for the Thanksgiving holiday so we can plan the classroom accordingly.

Happy Fall!

A BIG Thank You to all of the parents that donated goodies for the Fall Festival! Hope everyone had fun!

The Sign-up Sheets for the Thanksgiving holiday will be on the wall outside the Koala door. It’s very important to mark your children out for the week of Thanksgiving if they need to attend, if they aren’t marked on the list they will be marked out.

The teachers staff the room for how many children have signed up, so if you have any questions, Please Ask.

The weather is cooler in the mornings lately, please be sure our Koalas each have a jacket. It it’s possible we ask that each child has a hat and gloves as well to keep in their cubbies at all times. This way we are always prepared for the Colorado weather. Also, when it snows please remember to bring snow boots! The Koalas try and go outside every day!

Morgan and Hunter moved up to Koala II’s, have fun with Patty and Jamie!

We’d like to welcome Benjamin from Teddies and Olive from outside the center – glad to have both of you as our new friends!

The Koalas will be exploring some fun activities about Airports this month! We will also incorporate throughout the month: All forms of Transportation, what it’s like Down on the Farm, the grocery store and Thanksgiving.

WOW!!! November is here, time does fly.

The weather is changing so make sure that your child has a coat, gloves and a hat. We do go outside twice a day weather permitted. Also make sure there are extra clothes just in case we need to change them.

Another reminder, if you are going to be out or going on vacation there is a small notebook next to the lesson plan so you can write the days that you will be out.

We are also having our Christmas program in December and Koalas do participate. We will give out more information in a few weeks.

Themes for November are:
2nd-6th Down on the Farm
9th-13th Transportation
16th-20th Grocery Store
23rd-27th Thanksgiving

Also in the next few weeks we’re putting a sign-up sheet for Thanksgiving week so we can staff accordingly.

As always, if you have any questions at all, feel free to ask.

Panda One’s
Dear Panda One Families,

Happy Harvest! We would like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving this month! Also, we hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. Thank you to all of the families who purchased goodies from our bake sale, brought treats for Parent’s Night Out, or otherwise contributed to our Annual Fall Festival; your support is greatly appreciated!

As we transition into cooler outdoor temperatures, we ask that all families please provide season-appropriate clothing and outdoor attire for their children. This includes: hats, long-sleeve shirts, pants, and warm coats. We will continue taking advantage of every opportunity to bring the classroom outdoors, so please help us to keep the children warm and comfortable.

The curriculum theme for the month of November will focus on airports, airplanes, and travel. We will be transforming the classroom into a mock airport with a security checkpoint, baggage-check, and an airplane. We will spend time exploring various aspects of an airport; identifying different parts of an airplane; counting passengers, windows, doors, seats, wings, and wheels; practice packing a suitcase; as well as color-matching, fine and gross motor skills, and sequencing. We will also be experimenting with gravity and motion. The children will creating identification cards, passports, and luggage tags. If your family has a child-size backpack, duffle bag, or suitcase we encourage you to bring it in as an additional enrichment; books and magazines with airport, airplane, and/or travel themes and scenes are also welcome!

“I’m a Little Airplane” (to the tune of “I’m a Little Teapot”)

I’m a little airplane, way up high,

-Hold hand up to forehead to shade eyes looking into the sky, and point with     the other hand

With my great big wings, watch me fly!

-Hold arms out like wings and tilt them side to side

When the pilot tells me, I’ll come down,

-Hold hands over both ears like your holding the radio headphones         (earmuffs) that pilots wear

Swooping and gliding to the ground.

-Hold arms out like wings and spin in a circle, then kneel on the ground

With the holidays just around the corner, we understand that many families may have travel plans on the horizon. With that in mind, we ask that you please provide us with as much notice as possible for vacation or time that your child will not be in attendance in the classroom, this allows us to staff our rooms accordingly. Thank you in advance.

Happy November, a month that reminds us about how thankful we are for all that we have. The Brown Bear Teachers are very thankful for all of you! You have all been so generous and supportive. We really appreciate everything you do. Everyone is so helpful anytime we ask, so many taking turns recycling, especially Kathy’s Dad Tony. Easton’s Mom Kristen helped arrange our dentist visit and his Dad, Cris was a guest reader! Sofia’s Mom Emily also bought our classroom books! It was amazing to see how quickly our Halloween snack list filled up, so much healthy and delicious food. Thank you for all you do, such wonderful role models!

We will begin our airport STEM unit and end with Thanksgiving. The letter books will continue as will number recognition. Your children are so proud to be able to count by 10’s to 100 already. They are all so bright! Your little scientists are loving their experiments and make some awesome predictions. We are truly enjoying our time with your children. Please don’t hesitate if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy Thanksgiving – safe travels.

Black Bears

Hello Everybody!
We hope everyone is having a good fall so far. Some things we are going to
start focusing on this month will be beginning sounds. We will talk about our “letter of the week” as well, trying to incorporate words that start with those letters. We make classroom lists on the whiteboard  including our curriculum for the week. Please feel free to check them out to see what we discussed in class.

Our themes this month include the following: Down on the farm,Transportation, Grocery  store, and Thanksgiving.
If you ever have any questions about the curriculum or anything else, never hesitate to ask.

Grizzly Bears
Ms. Leewitt, Ms. Kim and Ms. KennedyGreetings Grizzly Parents and Families,

November is here and the weather has finally started to take on the autumn chill. Please encourage your kids to bring jackets, hats or sweaters just in case we have a sudden shift to even colder weather during the day.

There are only a handful of dates for school changes this month. We will post reminders on the white board outside Grizzly Room of the following dates as they get closer:

11/3 – Late Start: Flagstaff & SVVSD

11/3 – Early Release: TPCA

11/23-27 Fall Break

11/26 Sunset Closed for Thanksgiving

Please make sure you have snacks and lunches packed for your kiddo on “No School” and “Early Release” days.

Another important date to note is 11/13 – the last day to sign your child “IN” or “OUT” each day of Fall Break. The chart outside the classroom must be filled out by November 13th in order to make sure we can appropriately staff the classroom. If the list doesn’t have “IN” for your child then we will mark them “OUT” for the break and staff accordingly.

We have lots of fun STEM activities and lessons planned, and a calendar is available upon request; please see a Grizzly teacher to get one. Last month the students had a blast making anatomical hands and making them move; creating a see through starch ghost. They also took home their hand made mini witches’ brooms. Teachers found out later that several students followed the suggestion by a teacher and made the brooms into broom pens at home. If you would like a copy of directions for a lesson please let a Grizzly teacher know and we will get you one.

November the themes are:

Down On The Farm

Grocery Store

We have time allotted for reading or school studies, free time fun, and socializing each day for the students.

We look forward to continuing to learn and grow with our Grizzly friends.

Private Kindergarten

Ms. Kim

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! It was so great to see everyone in their costumes! We especially enjoyed our special spooky storytime at the library and costume parade. Our next library visit will be November 18th. This will be our only library trip this month due to Thanksgiving Break the week of November 23rd to the 27th. Please remember to sign your child in or out for this week as we do schedule accordingly. Also, remember to send your child with a lunch and snacks.

In November we will be learning continue boosting our phonemic awareness by learning about word families and long versus short vowels. We will also continue to develop our number sense by discussing different ways to represent a number. This helps build a strong foundation as we learn addition.

As always, thank you for your wonderful children and for all you do!

*Please Note: We have a peanut and berry allergy in our room, so please pack food items without peanuts for lunches and snacks.
