WOW it’s April already!
We’re going outside more now that the weather is getting warmer, but there are times that it is chilly in the morning so please make sure your child has a light jacket. Feel free to start bringing sunscreen. We apply it twice a day.
On another note, thank you so much to the parent who brought in Egg Hunt donations. We want to say goodbye to Simon, Gilberto, and Boedi, on their new adventure to Panda 1’s. We will miss you lots.
We welcome Wendy, Lukas, and Mia from Koala 1’s.

Dear Panda Families,
Spring is in the air… Birds are singing, grass is sprouting, trees are budding, and signs of new life can be seen everywhere!
You’re invited! Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 4th, at 10am. Refreshments will be available in the Grizzly Bear Classroom. Please join us for a morning of food, fun, and egg-citement!
Curriculum themes for this month will include: Easter; Dinosaurs; Weather and Clouds; Earth Day/Planting and Gardening; and Outer Space. We will be dying eggs on Friday, April 3rd. We ask that each family please bring in two hard-boiled eggs for their child; cups and dye will be provided. During our week-long theme on dinosaurs, we will answer the question: “What do dinosaurs look like under their skin?” as we go on an archaeological dig in the sand box to excavate dinosaur bones; the children will also create fossil dough; and take turns “hatching” dinosaur eggs. For our week on weather and clouds, we will experiment with a tornado tube; make rainbows with a prism; and learn about rain and clouds with a cotton ball experiment. Then, in celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd and Arbor Day on April 24th, the children will plant seeds, and learn how to nurture them so that they can grow. With a little luck, and a lot of TLC, the class can spend the next several weeks watching their seeds sprout and grow! Last, but certainly not least, we will blast off on a journey through outer space where we will explore the sun, the moon, the stars, and the planets!
We are taking up a collection of supplies for this month’s sensory and science activities. If you would like to contribute, please speak with Miss Becka. We are in need of the following:
Our next transition is scheduled for the week beginning Monday, April 06th. Addison, Olivia, and Daniella will be moving on up to Panda Two. In their place we will welcome Simon, Boedi, and Gilberto from Koala Two. Congratulations on your graduation, friends! We are very proud of you!

Happy Easter and Spring to everyone!
Our reading challenge was an amazing success! They passed our goal of 150 books for March by leaps and bounds. We are so proud of your children’s love of reading, this is the one important factor to assure a successful academic career. Please make sure to acknowledge it and pat them on the back as they show you our thermometer’s grand total!
We are so excited to get busy planting veggie seeds indoors, watching plants grow and what they produce is not only fun it’s yummy. We have potted flowers in our room already, which the children are enjoying taking care of, one child remarked, “They are our new friends!” which made everyone happy.
Another important part of April is celebrating Earth Day and the awareness it brings. Our focus will be on protecting all living creatures and how everything is connected in the food chain, and of course, protecting our natural resources.
Small groups will continue to work on math, language arts, science, and beginning writing.
Have a wonderful month, get outside, play, laugh, and learn together, they grow fast!

Happy March! Monday, March 2nd, is Dr. Seuss’s birthday and National Read Across America Day. We will join the Brown Bears in a three day celebration for this beloved author. We will play games, do a craft, have a special snack, and in true Dr. Seuss fashion, be silly.
After our seuss-tastical celebration, we will spend the rest of March learning about the sea, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter. We will continue learning new sight words each week and learning about word families and rhyming words. in math, we will continue learning number recognition and addition.
The kids have been working so hard and learning a lot! we are hoping to earn our second popcorn party sometime this month!
Thank you for such wonderful children!

Welcome to April Grizzly Parents and Families,
March was indeed a busy month and flew by quickly. The kids really enjoyed creating the classroom story book. We posted the original outside the classroom, and sent copies home with the kids. We hope that the kids and their families will enjoy them for years to come. The stories are fun to read.
We would like to thank those parents and families who helped by filling out the Spring Break Schedule. We also love seeing that the Summer Camp registration is over half full. If you haven’t signed up for Summer Camp the deadline is April 20th. However, we recommend registering early to get the one of the last of the limited spots.
April only has one “Late Start”/ “Early Release” day on the first of the month. Spring Break is April 6-10; as such are “No School” days. These days will be posted outside the Grizzly room on the Theme Board also.
Please remember to have snacks and lunches packed for your kiddo on “No School” & “Early Release” days.
Our themes this month are:
Calendars of our activities for this month are available upon request. We have 3 field trips and 2 in classroom days planned out for Spring Break. We recommend getting a copy of the calendar to see important items needed during the month. Please ask a Grizzly teacher for a copy.
As the weather continues to improve, we see the kids energy levels increase along with their desire to be outside. Expect to see the kids doing activities outside as daylight lasts longer and weather continues to permit.
Thank you again for being part of the Sunset Academy Family.
*Please Note: We have a peanut and berry allergy in our room, so please pack food items without peanuts for lunches and snacks.
