Directors Note

Welcome Fall!

Hello families and welcome to all of our new Sunset Academy children and families.
We are so excited to have you a part of our wonderful center. Just a reminder to parents, that if you refer a family to the center after they are enrolled for 90 days you will receive $100 credit towards your tuition!

Take a look in our classrooms and you will notice that our S.T.E.M program is up and running. Teachers in our infant and toddler programs are reading three stories a week and adding three finger plays to their lesson plans. The children are enjoying learning new songs. In the older classrooms, you will notice that there are more hands on experiences for the children.

Our garden has been growing in abundance. The children have enjoyed eating what they have been growing. Soon the children will be planting fall vegetables and will be enjoying the fall harvest soon.

If there is anything myself or Ms Kristy can do to make your experience “blossom” please let us know.

Thank you again for the opportunity to care for your children.

Miss Helen

Hello cub families! I hope everyone has enjoyed their long holiday weekend. This past month I would like to take the time to welcome Rylan and his family to our classroom! I am both happy and sad to say that Nathan and Emrie will be transitioning to teddies. We wish them both the best of luck in their new classrooms. Miss Madison will be leaving us this month to go to school. We wish her the best. I would like to remind all Cub families to bring in the family photo for our family tree.

Summer is almost gone and the new school year has begun. Our teddies have begun a new program that will increase their awareness, their attention span and a

love for reading and music. Each week new books will be introduced to the children along with songs. We will have the words to the songs in their cubbies. So join us in song.

We would like to welcome Fisher, Nathan, Isabelle and Emrie to our class. We would also like to welcome Ashley, our assistant, to the teddies room. We are so glad to have you as a part of the Teddy family.

As a reminder please make sure your children’s articles are labeled.

If you Have any questions. Please ask. Thank You.       Teddy Teachers

Koala One’s

Ms. Brenda and Ms. Patty

Parents please check your child’s cubby and change out their clothes. They grow so fast that we want to make sure they have extra clothes that fit. With our weather getting ready to change if your child has an extra light jacket that may stay in their cubbies please bring one in.

Adella and Grayson moved up to Koala 2. We hope you have fun with your new teachers and friends. Maelle moved up from teddies and Zack is new to the center. Welcome to Koala ones.  We are excited to have you as our new friends.

Themes for this month are where we live, community helpers, apples and fall.

Koala Two’s

Ms. Jamie and Ms. Chantell

We had a fun transition this August, welcoming Grayson from Koala 1’s to Koala 2’s. They get big so fast; In addition to Grayson being welcomed into our class; we also said, “Hello” to two new friends Paola and Nora. We still have lots to explore and look forward to the month of September. We will be learning all about community helpers, where we live, apples and fall.

Also, just a few reminders, with the colder months rolling in, please make sure your child has extra clothes that are warm, a hat, mittens, and, snow boots, when it snows.

Panda One’s

Dear Panda One Families,

Happy autumn! It’s hard to believe it is September already. As fall approaches and temperatures outside begin to drop we ask that all families please provide a light jacket, a long-sleeved shirt, and a pair of pants for their child to wear during outdoor play on cooler days. Also, please feel free to remove any Splash Day apparel from your child’s cubby (i.e. swimsuits, towels, water shoes, etc.). We also ask that families please provide a complete change of clothing for their child as accidents do happen.

For the safety of all of the children in our classroom we ask that that all small toys and other choke able objects be left in the car or at home. Thank you for your continued support on this matter.

As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated! Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact on of us.

            Until next month…

Polar Bears

Ms. Mary and  Ms. Bridgett

 Dear Polar parents,
We sure had a fun last month of summer in Polar Bear room as we started off the new school year. We said goodbye to a big chunk of our class as they moved on to Brown bears and welcomed and Fang Ming and Summer into our class.
In September, we will be learning about community helpers, apples, where we live, and fall.  If you have not completed your ‘All About Me’ poster, please ask any polar teacher for a copy of the poster so we can put them on display.
Just a reminder, please label all your child’s belongings, especially with the colder seasons approaching. Also, please bring your child’s blanket home on Friday, as we do not wash them at school. We are looking forward to healthy fun month in the Polar room!

Hello and a great big welcome to all of you wonderful families. We are off to a great start and working hard already. In September we will be discussing community helpers, apples, where we live, and the fall.   The children are adjusting well and having fun with all the new activities in our room. We are excited to see their bright eager faces each day as they take on new challenges. It is going to be an amazing year?
Thank you parents for all you do.  A special thank you to Arthur’s and Dresdyn’s family for helping the Earth and our classroom with our recycling bin.

Ms. Kim, Ms. Maddy, and Ms. Melissa

Happy September! Our first week together have been wonderful! We are beginning to settle into our routines and are having a good time together!

In September we will be learning about Where We Live, Community Helpers, Fall, and Apples. Throughout these themes, our focus will be on recognizing letters and their sounds. We will also focus on number recognition. Through our activities, we will continue to develop our fine motor skills so that we can also learn how to write all of our letters and numbers.

We are already working hard and have a great year ahead of us!

Grizzly Bears

Ms. Molly, Ms. Kennedy and  Ms. Leewitt,

Hello Grizzly Parents and Families.  September brings the school year into focus and with it we say “good-bye” to many friends that joined us for the Summer Camp.  We “welcome”  friends old and new who are joining our Before and After School Program at Sunset Academy.  This enrichment program is full of activities with a focused theme each week.  This month the themes are:

  • Where We Live
  • Community Helpers
  • Apples
  • Fall
  • Our 5 Senses

Each theme includes fun activities with lessons “snuck in” so your child is learning but not always realizing it.  We also have time allotted for reading or school studies, free time fun, and socializing.  We look forward to continuing to learn and grow with the Grizzly friends.

*Please Note: We have a peanut and berry allergy in our room, so please pack food items without peanuts for lunches and snacks.
