Yay! summer is right around the corner. Don’t forget to bring in sunscreen for the older kids. May is going to be an exciting month as we say goodbye to some of our friends who will be moving up to the Teddie room. However, we are excited to welcome a few new siblings to our room as well as April. We said goodbye to Anderson, Maelle and Wendy as they move up to Teddies. We are happy to welcome Krista to our room. She comes in as Michelle leaves in the evenings. She is the face you will see at pick up. We are excited to have her in our class and she is excited to work with your little ones as well.

Now that Spring is amongst us, please don’t forget to bring a light jacket for your little one for when we go out for walks. Also allergens are in the air, please let us know if your child develops any allergies.
Thank you for your business and your wonderful children.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask us.

Welcome May and the warmer weather.
We welcomed Hannah and Aden to our class from Teddies. We are glad to have you in our class. Kaeleigh moved up to Koala 2’s she will be missed.
Parents, please check your child’s cubbie daily for notes that we send home with their daily sheets. As you know these sheets will tell you when your child needs something. If you have not brought sunscreen in for your child please do so.

Dear Panda One Families,
Spring is in full bloom! We hope you are surrounded by flowers and sunshine as we enter into the month of May.
As temperatures continue to rise, we will be taking advantage of every opportunity to go outside and enjoy the warm weather and fresh air. Please help your child stay protected from the sun’s harmful rays by applying sunscreen to your child before dropping him/her off at school in the morning; we will reapply sunscreen to the children in the afternoon before going outside. In addition to sunscreen, hats and sunglasses are also encouraged for outdoor play. Also, please feel free to remove any winter apparel that may still be in your child’s cubby (i.e., winter hats, scarves, gloves, snow pants, snow boots, and heavy coats).
In an effort to ensure that all personal belongings brought into the classroom return home with their rightful owner, we recommend that all items be clearly labeled with the child’s first and last name, or at the very least, the first and last initials of the child’s name. Furthermore, in an effort to ensure the safety of all of the children in our classroom, we ask that all families refrain from allowing their child to bring “chokeable” objects into the room. A good way to determine if an object presents a choking hazard to a child is to measure whether it is small enough to fit through a toilet paper/paper towel tube; if an object fits, it is a choking hazard and it should not be brought into the classroom. On a similar note, we would also like to remind everyone that there is a child with a nut allergy in the classroom. Please do not bring anything containing nuts into the classroom, and please wash your hands and your child’s hands before or immediately upon entering the classroom. Thank you for your continued support on these very important matters, we greatly appreciate it!
On a lighter note, we would like to wish all of the mothers a very happy Mother’s Day on May 11th!!! May this day (and every day) be filled with appreciation and love. Speaking of holidays, we would also like to remind everyone that Sunset Academy will be closed on Monday, May 26, 2014 in observance of Memorial Day.
As always, should you have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to speak with one of us.

Welcome warmer weather! Summer will be here soon. The children have been enjoying going outside and playing in the warmer weather without their jackets. Hopefully we will be able to start Splash day soon! We will do this on Friday’s weather permitted.
Our kids have done such a great job with potty training.Do to this, we will be doing a transition sometime in late may with many of our Pandas. We will keep you posted as when this will take place.

Happy May! Hope everyone is enjoying the weather and playing outside more.
Your children are doing marvelously well sounding out word families and writing their names. The children have all grown by leaps and bounds.
It will really help us out if you will take your child to the restroom before entering the classroom every morning. At least have them “try” here, this will prevent some of the disruptions during learning time.
Please remember to check cubbies for proper clothing, have children sun screened before school every day, and take their water bottles home daily to be washed. Thank you for all you do for us and your wonderful children.
Happy Mothers Day to all!

Happy May! We had a great April! Thank you for all of the candy donations. Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success! We had so much fun and loved seeing you there! We also had a great time on our first field trip in April. Our favorite part of The Flower Bin were the fish in their little pond! Hopefully we can plan another adventure sometime soon!
As part of our kindergarten preparation, we have slowly started cutting back on naps. We hope to continue to shorten our naps throughout the month of May. Also in May we have our preschool graduation! Graduation pictures will be taken on Tuesday May 6. Our graduation ceremony will be held May 16th at the Conference Center in Longmont. It will begin promptly at 6:30p.m. Please have children arrive by 6:10 so we can get the children in their caps and gowns and settled for this exciting event.

Dear Kindergarten Parents:
Can you believe that summer is almost here?!!
To finish up the year we will be reviewing money and time, and really emphasizing addition and subtraction strategies in math. In reading, we will begin digging deeper into the books that we are reading and answering comprehensive questions. We will be working hard to use these questions in our answers and wring complete sentences. In writing, we will be adding details to our sentences and making sure we are using uppercase and lower case letters when we write.
May 22nd will be our last day of Kindergarten. A report card will be sent out soon after.
Please continue to have your child read for 15-20 minutes each night this summer to ensure their continued success in reading.
Dear Before and After School Parents:
Summer is just around the corner. St. Vrain’s and Flagstaffs last day of school is May 22nd. Flagstaff has a noon dismissal that day. Twin Peaks last day is May 29th with no school being on May 26thfor Memorial Day.
Please make sure you see Kristy or Ms. Helen if your child is not enrolled in Summer camp and needs to be.
We are accepting before and after school children for 2014-2015 school year. If your child needs to be picked up or dropped off for school, please lest us know so we can get the request filled out for the van run.
*Please Note: We have a new peanut allergy in our room, so please pack food items without peanuts for lunches and snacks.
