April Newsletter

Directors Note:

It’s April already, and we are gearing up for our Annual Egg-treme Easter Egg Hunt! As most parents know, this is an egg-citing time for the children. The parents donate bags of goodies to help us fill an egg-straordinary, 7,500 plastic eggs (no egg-saggertion here!).  This egg-cellent egg hunt will be on Saturday, April 19th at 10 a.m. Please get here early, the parking is egg-cruciating if you are late and the egg hunt will begin egg-sactly at 10 a.m. Please feel free to bring friends and family, as it is open to the public. It is so fun to watch the children scramble for the eggs to fill their baskets. It is, without egg-ception, a great time for all. We will have healthy snacks in the Grizzly classroom afterwards, for egg-hausted egg hunters, as they egg-stract their goodies from the eggs.

Parents, please check your child’s cubby daily for notes that we send home with their daily sheets when your child needs something.  Also, please make sure that your child has extra close in their baskets in case we need to change them.  The children all need to have a coat and hat every day.

As the weather is turning nicer, please bring a new bottle of sunscreen, with your child’s name on it, that can stay here.  The teachers will  put sunscreen on them before going outside.

Cade, Sonja, Jeremy, Maya and Edward all moved up to the Koala II class.  Have fun!

Addison, Adella, Grayson and Walker made the big move from Teddies to Koala I’s.  We also had a new friend start with us.  Her name is Avery – welcome to the class!!  We are glad to have you as our new friends.

Themes this month are: Weather/Clouds, Wild West, Easter, Earth Day Planting and Cinco de Mayo.

Spring has sprung, and we could not be more excited about the change in seasons! Warmer weather means more opportunities to go out and enjoy the great outdoors. As we move into sunnier days and warmer temperatures, we will be taking every opportunity to go outside and enjoy the fresh air. We ask that you please provide a bottle of spray-on sunscreen for your child. We also ask that you apply sunscreen to your child before dropping them off at school in the morning; we will reapply sunscreen in the afternoons before going outdoors.

We would like to welcome three new friends to the Panda One classroom: Harper, Carter, and Jonah. Harper has recently graduated from the Koala Two classroom, Carter is new to our center, and Jonah is returning after being on hiatus. Welcome to the Panda One classroom friends (and families)! We are very excited to have you with us!

Our annual Easter celebration will be hosted on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00am. We encourage everyone to join us for a fun-filled morning of egg hunting and socialization.

As always, should you have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to speak with us. Until next time, take care!

 Best Wishes,
Ms. Becka, Ms. Meghan, and Ms. Jen

Spring is here!  Please go through your child’s cubby and switch out winter clothes for some Spring ones.
We have most of our friends potty trained.  Everyone is doing great.  They are all learning about listening to their bodies.

Hello and welcome to Spring.  We are bouncing right along and learning so much.  This month we will be learning about: Weather and Clouds, Wild West, Easter, Earth Day/Planting and Gardening, and Cinco de Mayo.
The kids are so excited that it is warm enough to really get out and play.  We have been running, playing and using our imagination.  As a side note we would like to ask that your child only bring in their nap time toy.  All other toys may get lost and would be better off kept at home.
Thank you for all of your continued support.

Happy April from the Brown Bears!
April will be a fun-filled busy month of learning about Weather, Wild West, Easter, Earth Day, and Cinco de Mayo.  Looking forward to planting season too!
We are also excited about the nicer weather.  Please check temperatures daily and dress your child for chilly mornings outside and warmer afternoon recesses.  It is always good to double check cubbies for a change of clothes too.

Dear Kindergarten Parents:

Can you believe there are only 8 more weeks left of school?!!!  We have learned so much, and will continue learning everyday until school is out.  This month, we will be focusing on time and money in math.  Reinforcing how to count by 5’s will help greatly if you are looking for ways to extend learning at home.  In reading, we will be investigating tricking letter combos and the sounds they make; things like au, aw, igh, ew, etc.  We will also be working on reading fluency by learning a new poem each week.  In science, we will be taking a closer look at insects; where they live, what they eat, and how they grow.  As always thanks for your continued support at home and keep on reading.
Dear Before and After School Parents:

Spring break has been a great success thanks to the amazing Leewitt!  We’ve had some fun field trips and craft days, and the kids seem to be enjoying a small taste of what Summer will be like.  Please be aware that schools will have late start/early release on Wednesday, April 9th.  Thanks for helping your kiddos remember to collect all of their belongings each night when you leave.

*Please Note: We have a new peanut allergy in our room, so please pack food items without peanuts for lunches and snacks.
